The average number of students in the schools we assist who excel in science subjects has jumped from 21% in 2019 to 53% in 2024, according to research conducted by REFU in collaboration with Nakaseke district education board. REFU also conducted independent research in Bukomansimbi and Luwero districts, although the district education boards were not involved.
- Teachers from the rural schools of Nakasongola army secondary school, St. Agnes Natyole, Mpigi secondary school, Kibinge secondary school, Misanvu SS, Uganda Martyrs Buyoga SS, Butenga Parents SS, Mbulire SS among other schools have been trained in teaching science subjects through workshops, study trips, and further education.
- REFU has conducted many projects, including Mathematical projects, Physics projects, Chemistry projects and Biology projects. We have hereby trained teachers, engaged students in debates, given books to schools, built and renovated libraries and laboratories. We have trained students on the use of books and laboratory equipment. We have done a number of Mathematics and Physics projects in school such as Mbulire SS, Butenga Parents, Nakaseke secondary school, Magoma SS, Wakyato SS, and Standard High School.
- We have also built and renovated libraries and laboratories in the above named schools, and stocked them with books and equipment
